June is Men’s Health Month. The purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. This month gives health care providers an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.

One theme of Men’s Health Month is “Get Moving!”
As physical therapists, we believe that “Movement is Medicine.” Moving for just twenty minutes a day can help prolong your life, reduce disease, and keep you healthy.
Physical therapists (PT's) can help create a workout plan for you. PT’s can also help give you tips for staying active in your everyday life and help you add exercise into your daily routine.
PT’s help to reduce any aches and pains you may be feeling so you can play with your kids or grandkids, take the stairs instead of the elevator, do yard work or get back into sports.
Your physical therapist will also provide you with the education and tools you need to continue your exercise program at home.
During Men’s Health Month (and every month!), it is a good time for you to focus on taking care of yourself. Contact one of our outpatient clinics today to see how physical therapy might help you get moving!
